Files - Online File Access at TAMUQ

“Files” is our web-based secure file transfer application that allows users to access network drives remotely over the internet. Faculty and staff will be able to run a free utility "FTP voyager" to easily move or search for files between computers over the web. The instructions below show how to use files using a 'simple' interface. You may also use any compatible FTP client. For more informaion on how to access Files using a FTP client click here :
How to use "Files" to access your network files.

Some of the benefits in using “Files” include:
  - Drag-and-drop interface for local and remote machines
  - Search for files on network drives
  - Thumbnail preview of remote images inside “Preview” pane
  - Maintain timestamps of transfer files
  - Operates using HTTP protocol for easy firewall configuration.
  - Resume interrupted downloads
  - Multiple transfer mechanism - SFTP settings
     - Server : files.qatar.tamu.edu  
     - Port : 22  
     - Protocol : SSH (SCP, SFTP)

1. To begin your access to the electronic file sharing networks login to Files from http://files.qatar.tamu.edu       
2. Enter your TAMUQ username in the "Login Id" input box followed  by your password.  
3. After logging in, you will see a list of folders that represent share drives. By clicking on any folder, you are  given access to the files present on that drive.
4. You can now navigate to any folder for which you have permissions to upload, edit, or download documents, files or programs. When using th simple interface, you can only upload single file or document. You will not be able to move entire folder. To transfer multiple files or folders concurrently you will need to install any FTP client application.
